Tea Party

The girls in my class had tea parties
But never invited me
“Can I come to your tea party?” I asked once
“No.” Was the straight reply
So I decided to have my own
I made invitations
And gave them out to every girl in my class
4:00. I sat with cake and tea on my table
But no one came
“They must have thought 5:00 my dear.” Said my mother
I waited till 7:00, but no one came.

“Let’s have a tea party.” I said recently to my friends
We agreed to have it at my place
And they came
And we had the best tea party ever

Bindi

The teacher talked about something

She wasn’t listening

She was looking at her teacher’s bindi

Her big, fat bindi

It was bright red

It reminded her of the sun

The sun that gives us vitamin D

“What if there were no sun?”

She wondered,

“The world would be dark

The kids would have no sunlight to play in

The plants would bathe in darkness

The world would not know when to awake

We would be but, sad without the sun”

She looked hard at her bindi

The mind was everything, but distracted

I Miss You

I was not sure what I was doing here. Should I be here? Should I not? I stood outside the door for 15 minutes then, finally knocked. She opened the door. She looked…different. Well, what else was I to expect in 10 years. When she saw me her eyes welled up with tears but she fought them back.

“Come in.” She said. She made tea for herself and coffee for me. She remembered.

We talked about her for a while. Then, she slowly asked me “Where did you go?”

Where did I go? At first I was lost, I was scared. I thought of going back home but then I found a job. A job I liked. And from that point onwards everything in my life went well, with a few downfalls of course. But every time something happened, good or bad I wanted to tell her. I wanted to tell my sister. But I couldn’t because I was afraid.

“I got a job.” I said. We talked about my job for a while.

“Go meet mom and dad.” She said.

Mom and dad? No. I was still completely afraid of meeting them, they may still not approve of my choices.

“Maybe someday.” I said. Then there was a silence. We both wanted to say lot during that silence and maybe we did. I looked at my watch “I better get going.”

She walked me to the door. Told me to visit again and when the door closed behind me I heard a silent whisper “I miss you.”

Quiet

Two friends sat at the edge of a river
They sat silently for hours, or so, it seemed

"Why so quiet?" One asked the other
"It's loud in my head." Was the reply

Heaven or Hell

He lay there, thinking
About life after death
“Hell” he thought
‘Cause he had done some unforgivable things
He would be carved by screaming souls
Until he vowed to do sinful things
He would walk into the fiery pit
And become what he is not
At least the suffering would stop
Or so he would think
He would cry bitterly and quietly
For he would not know, what he would become

“Heaven, maybe.”
A place where he would get a second chance
He would live a different life
He would become a better man
And when he is one of the best
He will be sent back down
To live life all over again
But not remembering his previous life
Will make the same mistakes
And life will never end
He still lay there thinking
As he took his final breath
And ceased to exist.
